The Tampa Bay Rays began spring training in Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Fla. on Feb. 13. While there’s no news of a team outing for the Rays, The Bell Tower Shops were a hang out for the players and fans in past years. Players told the Tampa Bay Times they were excited for the upcoming season.
The Rays switched from Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg to Charlotte Sports Park in 2009 in an effort to boost interest in spring training, which was successful. They play regular home games at Tropicana Field.
